MATTHEW
MILLER

ABOUT

Painting has been my lifelong passion. I am a self taught artist, and my former career as an architect has trained me to observe and appreciate details. I enjoy capturing the image of every day items, celebrating the light, color, and form of the things we find in our pantry, refrigerator, or bar.

With the exception of a few quick studies and alla prima paintings, I primarily paint in my version of traditional painting; using thin layers of oil paint to build up color with thicker, more opaque paint on the top layer. The result is a realism that emulates the source while displaying the mark making of my hand.
