Matthew has been painting for almost twenty years. He is a self taught artist, and his former life as an architect has trained him to observe and appreciate details. Matthew enjoys capturing the image of every day items, celebrating the light, color, and form of the things we find in our pantry, refrigerator, or bar.

With the exception of a few quick studies and alla prima paintings, Matthew primarily paints in his version of traditional painting; using thin layers of oil paint to build up color with thicker, more opaque paint on the top layer. The result is a realism that emulates the source while displaying the mark making of Matthew’s hand.
